What is 2wm?
2wm is a regional site developed in partnership with the Regional Development Agency (Advantage West Midlands), BT, Coventry University and the European Commission. We hope you will find this site a useful gateway into the West Midlands, from links to business support, land and property searches, jobs, grants, news and events. Registration is free and we are constantly updating our knowledge base to provide your business with the latest information ‘online’.
2wm Objectives
Our aim is to connect like-minded businesses together in specific industry clusters providing them with a platform to access relevant business support and online advisory services.
We don’t replicate what is already available on the internet, instead we bring all the information together in the one place, a kind of desktop business advisor.
Registration is totally free of charge and once registered, there will be no need to log on every time you visit, you will immediately gain access to the whole of the e-Portal and on all subsequent visits thereafter. We aim to make it as easy as possible to access all the relevant information a small business could need.
None of the information you provide will be shared with any other organisation. It will only be used to monitor the success of the 2wm e-Portal and to contact you directly with relevant business information. If at any time you wish to be removed, simply email us and we will make no further contact with you.

What will it do?
2wm will offer direct links to local business support agencies, environmental agencies and training centres. It will also provide a database of all ongoing ICT projects which aim to offer the small business a particular service. Advantage West Midlands will have a strong presence on the e-Portal offering the latest information on economic policy and strategy. Real cost savings for small business will be made available, as will opportunities to access a variety of e-Commerce applications tailor made to individual businesses.
But what's in it for my industry?
2wm will offer companies in the same Industry sector the opportunity to trade with other businesses 'on line'. 2wm will initially be focusing on eight business sectors (These are: engineering, creative industries, medical technologies, engineering design, ceramics, automotive, food & drink and tourism & leisure). Within each sector, the e-Portal will develop clusters of virtual communities; this may involve linking into existing communities or helping to establish a web presence for clusters that wish to embrace Internet technology. Each cluster community will offer its members the opportunity to access chat forums, trade and tender rooms and job boards as well as providing the latest sector-specific news and events.
Are you replicating what's already out there?
No, 2wm will be pivotal as a major marketing tool for the West Midlands region. It will not only provide companies with a comprehensive platform to access business support, but also gain local companies real cost savings through group purchasing arrangements. The technology is brand new and the content relevant and up to date.
As a delivery mechanism, 2wm is designed to complement and co-ordinate the existing range of ICT projects and initiatives either planned or underway throughout the West Midlands Region.
